Naomi Watts secara resmi menuju kembali ke hari-hari awal Westeros. Deadline melaporkan bahwa dua kali nominator Oscar ini akan membintangi pilot prekuel Game of Thrones yang ditulis oleh Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service), yang diangkat dari sebuah cerita karya Goldman dan George RR Martin.
Karakter yang akan diperankan oleh Watts digambarkan sebagai “sosialita karismatik yang menyembunyikan rahasia gelap.”Dan prekuel ini akan mengambil setting beribu-ribu tahun sebelum kisah Game of Thrones dimulai dan akan meliputi kisah transisi Westeros dari Golden Age of heroes ke periode masa tergelap di dunia itu.

Belum ada pengumuman resmi tentang kapan prekuel Game of Thrones akan memulai debutnya di HBO, tetapi suatu saat di tahun 2020 tampaknya seperti waktu yang tepat. Sementara itu, enam episode terakhir Game of Thrones akan ditayangkan pada April 2019.
