Sutradara kenamaan, Quentin Tarantino akhirnya mengakui bahwa semua film besutannya saling berhubungan satu sama lain. Dilansir dari Dazed Digital, Tarantino menyatakan bahwa dalam filmnya, ia tak hanya memiliki satu dunia, namun ada dua dunia.
“There is actually two separate universes. There is the realer than real universe, alright, and all the characters inhabit that one. But then there’s this movie universe. So From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill, they all take place in this special movie universe. So when all the characters of Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, when they go to the movies, Kill Bill is what they go to see. From Dusk Till Dawn is what they see.”
Meskipun terdapat dunia dunia, namun film-film tersebut saling terkait satu sama lain. Seperti yang diutarakan oleh Tarantino, jika para karakter dalam film Reservoir Dogs atau Pulp Fiction ingin menonton film, maka film Kill Bill atau From Dusk Till Dawn lah yang akan mereka tonton. Menarik bukan?
Contoh yang sudah tersebar di dunia maya sejak beberapa tahun yang lalu adalah ketika Mia Wallace, karakter wanita dalam Pulp Fiction menjelaskan tentang perannya dalam pilot episode Fox Force kepada Vincent Vega. Dalam percakapan tersebut, Mia menceritakan beberapa tokoh pilot episode Fox Force kepada Vega yang ternyata sama persis dengan tokoh di film Kill Bill. Bisa saja pilot episode Fox Force yang diperankan Mia tersebut berubah menjadi sebuah film berjudul Kill Bill.
Tak berhenti di situ, Tarantino juga memberikan ‘petunjuk’ tentang film terbarunya yang berjudul The Hateful Eight. Ia mengungkapkan bahwa salah satu karakter dalam film The Hateful Eight memiliki hubungan dengan film besutan Tarantino lainnya.
“I don’t want to say it point blank ‘boom!”, but if you’re a fan of my work and are familiar with it you could be a bit of a detective. I will say that there is one character amongst the eight that is related to one of my other characters in one of my other films.”
“I can’t explain the relation because that would tip my hat a little bit too much. The only other clue I can give… is that the actor was originally cast as that character in the other film but they weren’t able to do it due to a scheduling conflict.”
