Tahun ini merupakan tahun yang sangat berbeda bagi Golden Globe, setelah pembubaran Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) karena masalah etika dan kurangnya keragaman. Golden Globe sekarang dimiliki oleh Dick Clark Productions dan Eldridge Industries, dan ditayangkan di CBS untuk pertama kalinya dalam empat dekade. Nominasi dan pemenang tahun ini dipilih oleh 300 anggota yang memiliki hak suara dari 75 negara.
Komedian Jo Koy menjadi pembawa acara Golden Globe 2024, yang juga akan memperkenalkan kategori baru (satu untuk komedi stand-up dan satu lagi untuk pencapaian box office film, yang diraih oleh Barbie, mengingat film ini telah menghasilkan hampir 1,5 miliar dolar AS pada tahun 2023).
