Golden Globe Awards yang ke-74 baru saja selesai digelar di Beverly Hilton Hotel pada malam Senin, 8 Januari 2017 waktu setempat. Dibawakan oleh host utama Jimmy Fallon, acara ini berlangsung selama sekitar 3 jam dan ditayangkan langsung oleh channel NBC. Sejumlah selebriti pun turut meramaikan panggung Golden Globe sebagai presenter. Di antaranya Drew Barrymore, Matt Damon, Nicole Kidman, dan Chris Hemsworth.
Di malam yang gemerlap tersebut tampaknya menjadi milik La La Land. Pasalnya, film yang dibintangi oleh Ryan Goslilng dan Emma Stone tersebut berhasil memecahkan rekor malam itu dengan meraup kemenangan dalam tujuh nominasi, termasuk best actress dan best screenplay, sedangkan untuk kategori Best Motion Picture Drama dimenangkan oleh Moonlight. Untuk nominasi yang ditujukan kepada tayangan televisi sebagian besar dimenangkan oleh The Night Manager dengan tiga kemenangan. Sayangnya, mereka tidak mampu meraih kemenangan untuk kategori Best Limited Series or TV Movie yang dimenangkan oleh The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
