Akhirnya dunia penghargaan perfilman Hollywood mulai menggeliat tahun ini. Hal ini ditandai dengan diumumkannya nominasi dari ajang Golden Globes 2021 oleh Hollywood Foreign Press. Dan sudah pasti gara-gara pandemi, ajang ini sempat mengalami pengunduran jadwal dan tata cara pelaksanaan acaranya. Tahun ini, Tina Fey dan Amy Poehler akan menjadi pembawa acara Golden Globes dari dua tempat terpisah – Fey di New York dan Poehler di Los Angeles pada tanggal 28 Februari ini.
Netflix mendominasi nominasi Golden Globes tahunan ke-78 dengan mengumpulkan total 44 nominasi di area film dan TV. Sedangkan mendiang aktor Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman juga mendapat nominasi dalam kategori Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama untuk penampilannya di film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Pembacaan nominasi ini dilakukan oleh Sarah Jessica Parker dan Taraji P. Henson.
