Dengan dipandu kembali oleh Jimmy Kimmel, acara Academy Awards atau lebih dikenal dengan nama Oscar yang ke-90 baru saja selesai dilaksanakan. Film The Shape of Water garapan Guillermo del Toro memenangkan beberapa kategori penting dalam ajang ini salah satunya adalah Best Pictures dan Best Director. Sedangkan untuk penghargaan Best Actor jatuh ke tangan Gary Oldman yang berperan dengan cukup sempurna sebagai Winston Churchill dalam film Darkest Hour dan untuk kategori Best Actress diraih oleh Frances McDormand melalui perannya dalam film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
